What is new for the 2020 Nissan Sentra?

In a world where other automakers are ignoring or even canceling their lineup of sedans, Nissan is standing out from the crowd by doubling down on improving its roster of cars. We’ve already seen vast improvements to the Maxima and Versa. Now, we’ve learned about what is new for the 2020 Nissan Sentra. For the new model year, the automaker has improved the performance output of the 2020 Sentra in addition to improving the sedan’s overall suite of safety systems. According to the manufacturer, Nissan will start delivery of the 2020 Sentra to dealerships around the country starting in after the start of the new year with the goal of late January. Let’s take a look at what buyers can expect.

More power, more efficiency

When the 2020 Nissan Sentra arrives at Charlie Clark Nissan, it will have a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that will produce 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet. These numbers represent increases of 20 percent in horsepower and 16 percent for torque. Fuel economy scores for the 2020 Sentra haven’t been released yet, but the automaker is estimating that the new Sentra engine will get better fuel economy scores than the previously used 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine.

“Nissan has a vibrant portfolio of new-generation sedans for customers in the U.S. market,” David Kershaw, division vice president, Nissan Sales & Regional Operations, Nissan North America, Inc, said in a press release. “With more than 6 million Sentra vehicles sold, we believe the all-new Sentra will reach new heights offering refinement and quality, technology and performance not seen before.”

Standard Safety Systems

The all-new Nissan Sentra joins the automaker’s other sedans in making the Nissan Safety Shield 360 system widely available across the board. Drivers and passengers will be protected by a suite of six driver assistance systems including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking and High Beam Assist. Additionally, the 2020 Sentra will feature up to 10 airbags as standard equipment with the Nissan Rear Door Alert system to remind owners to check the back seat before they go into the house.
